Apart from the frame wheels groupset saddle bars and stem I've had to change, its done me proud.

Spesh Stout hubs (both my 1997 and 2007 Stumpys have them and are going strong)
SRAM rear mechs (x-9 on about 6500 miles – only replaced the jockey wheels)
    Thomson seatposts
    Hope headsets, lights and skewers
So far Elixir CRs – totally dependable

At the lower end of the price scale (i.e. Mrs Mat's Rockhopper!)
    Deore kit – totally bombproof

+1 for Thomson seatpost and SPDs – never have to touch them.

Topeak Joe Blow pump – bike tyres, pram tyres, lilos, footys – piece of pish.

Free Gilet that came with MBR about 9 years ago – still used plenty. Can't bring myself to replace it – nothing looks like it'll do the job as well.

XCs are more reliable, they only snap axles.

I've got an aincient britool socket set and a new halfords one, both work as well as each other (although the britool one is possibly 50+ years old)

Not sure how much work you have to to do to wear them out but I've just started using the mini (about 4") ratchet wrench, its ace! Using it with an extension bar and a set of allen keys and my real allen keys are gathering dust.

My 90's, conventional swing LX front mech. From the days before shimano built crap stuff that wore out.

Nope – stuff that doesn't work:

    Avid Juicys
    Conti MKs
    Spesh Fastrax
    M525 hubs
    Conti Supersonic tubes

    And many more bits…

This seems to be coming up a lot lately!

I reckon I've spent far less on transmissions than I would if I replaced my chain every time it said it was worn!

There's some very dubious things on this thread! I think it's fair to put a lot of Shimano stuff on the list though!

I've become super nerdy over chain wear/length after killing two entire drivetrains very quickly. Well worth following a simple but effective chain cleaning routine – I wasn't doing it right before despite thinking I was being careful – doh!

Only paid £6 for my chain gauge though!

njee20 each to their own. A bling rear cassette and rings is a luxury for me and I just find that keeping the chain clean and replacing when worn means the other bits last a lot longer. XTR cassette and chainset rings on superlight 2+ years old now. 😀

+1 for shimano gears. Rear mechs seem to last for ever.

    Mavic F519 rims

Deore Shifters (still going strong after 10 years)
Old style XT rear mech (only went sloppy after 10 years)

Avid BB cable discs (awesomely zero maintenance – literally just cleaned them out a few times in 8 years)

Cougar – the Halfords Professional <edit>tool</edit> range is the business. If you're not in a hurry they're on sale every 3 months or so.
