    Anyone on here who’s done this, how long does the finish last?, I’m assuming that alu will oxidise and this dull down pretty sharpish. Only one way to find out.

    I took this old goosed SLX crank into work and commandeered a grit blaster to strip the coating, which really dulls the alu, then a glass peen unit to give a bit of shine. Looks not bad I reckon, we’ll see how it last though.

    I’m waiting on Cynic-al to send me a frame for welding, I’m guessing there may be some components included in the box now too….

    I did a Deore one with wet n dry paper and finished it on a buffy wheel mounted in a drill with some Megiuars Metal Polish.
    Came up real nice, it does dull fairly quick but it doesn’t take much to get the shine back .

    Project is on the back burner (AKA cannot be arsed)

    I bead blasted some stuff back in the day. Bar dirt or polishing from rubbing, the appearance did not change
