Stopping lights revolving around the bar?
Any quick fixes for rubber band mounted lights moving round the bar? I don’t want to go to a permanent Garmin type fixing because the light gets shared between three bikes.Posted 2 months ago
All my bodges, tape etc , make it difficult to quickly adjust beam for different terrain
bit of old inner tube? Should provide some extra friction.Posted 2 months ago
You could try a half twist to the rubber band, if possible. Should make every thing a bit tighterPosted 2 months ago
Hope light bracket – much better than the rubbish rubber bands.

Would you be talking about the Halfords off-road riding light by any chance? That’s the one I have this issue with. The attachment isn’t on the centre of gravity, so off road riding makes it spin forwards around the bar, I’ve got a top-cap with a built in GoPro mount to try next, the out-front mount that it came with was far too flexible so the light pool bounced and vibrated most distractingly.Posted 2 months ago
I make a shim for my bars (for the inexplicably over/undersized Halfords mounts) using neatly wrapped PVC electrical insulation tape. Works really well, as it’s firm enough to not wobble – firmer than rubber – but it deforms just well enough to grip the thing you’ve attached to it.Posted 2 months ago
Either pvc tape, duct tape or self amalgamating tape should sort it.
Doh! I’ve now read the last of your post 😁
Hope universal mount, fitted them to all my lights, they never move.Posted 2 months ago

How does the light attach to that then? I get the bar interface, it’s basically the same as the old Lumicycle mount, but I’m finding it hard to work out how the light sits on it.Posted 2 months ago
Screws on, using the same threaded hole the original mount comes with? Hang on I’ll take a pic…Posted 2 months ago
Thats on one of those halfords 1600 lights, it also works on magicshine light bodies and you can bodge them onto good old solarstorm cheapies….
I put some of that grippy tape they put on skateboards on my bars.Posted 2 months ago
That light never slipped again.
Hope or other generic qr mount.
Every timePosted 2 months ago
Well this is handy, just put the Halford light on the road bike and was not looking forward to the inevitable movement.
I’ve some lumicycle clamps hanging around, will see if they work.Posted 2 months ago
tape, glued inner tube etc on the inside of the mount, not the bars?
extra friction and should mean a rubber band type fixing will be a tad tighter. only have to do it once and it works on all 3 bikes.Posted 2 months ago
a few wraps of self amalgamating tape.Posted 2 months ago

Thanks! Basically the same as the Lumicycle mount. I was hoping they’d done something über clever, but sadly not 🙁Posted 2 months ago

This worked for me too.Posted 2 months ago
Get a decent light, even Chinese cheapo CREE’s don’t move.
I’ve an Exposure, with a mount on each bike.Posted 2 months ago
Not sure what light is causing issue but me and my mate were out last nightPosted 2 months ago
Both with Halfords lights on bars
I mounted the wee underslung Gopro bit that came with the light and attached it to the Exsposure stem mount
It never moved
My mates on the other hand was twirling around his bars and lighting up the ground after he’s rode it😭
Self almalgamating tape for me too.Posted 2 months ago
