The world isn't ending, this is simply a cycle that the earth goes through on a regular basis.
Since you like questions, here's one for you!
Do you believe that our ancestors sat around for 120,000 years or there about doing nothing?

A long time ago the Greeks where playing about with steam power for their larger temple doors.

description of an ancient text from just after JC popped his cloggs of the invention of steam power.

But conventional thinking tells us that humanity sat about for 120,000 years doing nothing? the Egyptians where far more advanced than the Greeks and who ever built the pyramids at Giza had technology we do not posses today.
Three things could have stopped humanity in its tracks
1) a massive war between us and the cromagnon
http://www.mikedust.com/history/cromagnon.html unlikely though possible.
2) disease or plague, likely and possible but still 120,000 years? looking at the current increase in population I don't think this is the case.
3) A naturally occuring cycle that causes massive disruption to the surface of the earth. I believe this is what is happening and that is why our ancestors have left no trace of themselves by their deeds.
Our history is far too short and yet every civilized culture has developed some form of speech and writing.
Humanity will always strive and invent or improve, we would not sit about for 120,000 doing nothing, all of the ancient cultures speak and keep a record or the world flood.

Perhaps I am wrong, but at least I will try and I'm not afraid to voice my opinion.
