hey a11y, nah not me, the guy i rode against had a normal lid on he also had a stupidly massive grin though like me, i’ll Flickr my pics later (well the ones woor lass took) kinda wish i’d got a shot of the signs, they made me laugh as i took the gayer route every time.

What an awesome weekend. It was my first SSUK (and it won’t be my last) so I was ‘competing’ along what I’d been told were the guidelines for the spirit of the event. Boy did I get a surprise when 250 + people started running for their bikes – I’d expected a leisurely walk so a leisurely walk I had !!

The chicken route signs were awesome – very funny. Apologies to any children near the steep climbs as I had sudden and unexpected bouts of tourettes to encourage myself to the top.. Nearly had a huge stack on the rock drop on lap two as the bike slid to the right as I headed off the top rock – how I didn’t end up on my head I don’t know. “Line of the day” according to the Marshal. Bad line of the day more like…

SSUK09 – a mountain bike race with a bear.. Still laughing about that one. Those scots sure are funny 🙂

I claim last man home. My first SSUK, 2 laps in about 3 and half hours, crossing the finish line hand in hand with Mrs Sheldona (who I guess can either share last man home with me of have last lass home) – except they’d removed the finish line by the time we got back. The marshals all left their stations as we past too (and a couple o the cheeky ones asked if we were on our third lap)

Thanks to the organisers, the marshals, the rain clouds, the supporters, the brewers, the band, the “racers” et al for a great weekend.

See you in Wales – my wife wants to come too now and we’ll be bringing one for the kids race next time out.

On the queue through the first bit of singletrack, I think there were only 3 or 4 people behind me. I was overtaken on the first climb by a guy smoking a joint. I stopped for a pee and to take off my jacket fairly early in the ride, and waited for a couple of riders to catch up, so that I can offer them a jelly sweet. Funkynick was at the beer stop so, after a leisurely drink, we rode the rest of the lap together, often with crazylegs’ dad.

Just a quick thank you from myself and the new Queen of Britain.

Another great event and can’t wait for next year.

This now has pride of place in the living room.

Sheldon should have got a prize for the biggest mince on the rock drop though.

I can concur they stopped at our Marshal Point (number 14, I wish Dan a speedy recovery) and then spent the next ten minutes arguing who was going to go first!

Hi IGM, you weren’t the last people round as the one poor chap who arrived late went round with the course closure marshalls, Poor chap had arrived rather late!

BTW, I’ve got about 200 photos of you riders as you went past my marshall point, trouble is the numbering system was singletrackily shoddy and hardly any of the numbers are recognisable!!

I dunno if I’ll have time to set up a Flickr account of such like but if anyone wants to host them I could always stick them on a dvd and post them to someone?

They weren’t supposed to have left their stations, we waited for you guys to come along as we were following your progress round the course on the radios.

Update on Andy (who was at the prizegiving with his arm in a sling after crashing on the rock drop). He’s broken his wrist and is getting it re-set by a specialist tomorrow, then a month in cast.

Cheers to the organisers, probably the best overall SSSUK I’ve been to. Was a great laugh, the course was perfect, food good, beer good,crowd great etc. Probably won’t be sending my gran the photos of me on the rollapuluza machine though…

best race course I have ever seen, massive moooohassseeeve variety, i liked the bits of surrey, afan, and aviemore they nicked. They even copied the woods near my mum’s where I learnt to ride offroad in the 70’s.

Great weekend, apart from my nonintentional stack on the finish line after a sprint finish which has properly **** my shoulder up, serves me right for racing. Big thanks and well done to the organisers, nice and chilled event with no rules for a change

Sheldona, Respect to the Knights of Niche and it was good of you to leave the king size Ryevitas behind after the cheese party. They went down well before the bike jousting started! I finished shortly after Amanda and was promptly presented with her card, something about sponsoring her at Mountain Mayhem, but for me it will be a lasting memory of the Knights of Niche!
