I’m looking for anyone who has experience of trying an 11-46 cassette with 1×11.
I’ve a drop bar touring 29er that currently runs a fairly recent Rival groupset including an 11-42 that is the max recommended size. However, when this is eventually changed, I’d like to try the larger cassette if there is a decent chance of the mech accepting this.

Think it should be okay, but alternatively you could fit a 10-42 and drop a chainring size for the same result.

I use an E13 9-44t cassette on my rival 1x.

Hmm.. Don’t think that the freehub will accommodate that smallest ring on a 10-42, it’s a very standard hub. So, I reckon the 11-46 is the way to achieve a lower climbing gear; not essential but if it works, worth a try as it would make loaded climbing a bit easier.

Thanks K, that’s promising that it will run 44t.
