Thieving bustards asking £5 more than CRC. How dare they. For added convenience, you could ask them to post it to you

My LBS is the same as TJ’s and they are indeed around the same price as online and often cheaper. Shop is TheBikeChain in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh is 7 hours away but at least that’s confirmation that my LBS are definitely taking my micky. I should have noticed the bentley parked outside before I walked in 😥

normal 991 chain is about £28 in my usually rrp’d LBS. or at least the last couple i got there were.

CRC seems to list the rrp of the normal one as £35.99 and cross step (but not hollow pin) as £39.99.

So shirly your lbs is only a quid or so out?

I saw a load of the free (and in all fairness really rather nice) mbuk/norco socks for sale minus the magazine, in amongst all the other socks at one bike shop recently. For a fiver a pair. Now that is enterprising! 😀

Other chains are available at lower prices. If you can’t stretch to a 991 then the 951 and 971 work fantastically as well.

I discovered my LBS will sell the cheap SRAM 9sp chain (951??) for the same price as the cheapest online price. How? Ask them if they have ‘workshop’ chains. i.e. Unboxed in a plasic bag. I didn’t ask at first, I just said “What’s the cheapest 9sp chain you have?”

    Worth a try!

normal 991 chain is about £28 in my usually rrp’d LBS

So that means the shop were actually charging a tenner more than RRP ❗

And the 971 was a whopping 2 quid less

A 991 is listed as £39.99, the hollow version is £49.99

looking at fishers latest price list,

    PC991 Cross Step £44.99
    PC991 £39.99
    PC991 Hollow Pin £49.99

Seperate in box price not bulk chain in bags.

Hmm, selling at less than trade there from Fudges.

Must be OEM equipment, surely. – Not that it makes a difference to the customer, especially when its a chain (so no compliated warranty claims like forks etc)

Not sure a 991 is an OEM chain. Might investigate and see if there is a deal somewhere to be had.
