    ….hilarious!!!!

What is the point, apparently used to factory fit the chain, then useless for the bike owner. I spent 30 mins trying to remove a brand new one last night, thinking it was the same as a Powerlink only to find out today that they arent meant to be removed and reused.

    Or am I wrong?

Shimano or KMC from now on then.

Just use a 9 speed Powerlink – they work fine.

Not useless: handy for fast trailside repair of broken chain.

But not as adaptable as Powerlink.

    They are crap / pointless.

Get the Clarks / KMC (?) alternatives that do come undone are re-usable and are cheap on CRC.

9speed wont fit on a 10speed block if you use it.

I did the same, bought it thinking I could whip it off and clean it.

Still glad to have the SRAM chain so next time it snaps I can just bang a new link in quickly rather than faffing about with a pin extractor.

Just search ‘youtube’ for a couple of vids on how to remove them, did it yesterday myself when my new Ultegra front mech turned up and they are fixed at the bottom of the cage rather than a screw.

Popped the link off, threaded it through the mech, clicked it back on and seemed fine.

    Trimix – I’m currently using a Powerlink on a 10 speed cassette.
