    3m usually IIRC.

Good fun and may help with confidence but don't expect to meet your true love out of 20 randoms.

Nonchalantly play with a set of Ferrari car keys as you chat.

There's a variety of women on there, if you are looking for sex there's probably easier ways (online dating and beyond)

Desperate 'I cant get a man types'…. mmm so none of the men there are desperate 'I cant get a woman types' then? Seems improbable.

Why would anyone of either sex be there if they could pull just by stepping out of their front door?

Its great fun. Wide range of women, but mostly confident and outgoing, obvious really.

I wish I could get any date to last longer than 2 minutes 🙁

I've only done it once but it was a laugh.

You'll get about 3 mins with each person which can either feel like the shortest or longest 3 mins of your life. You need to think of interesting questions to ask if you want to stand out (why you want to stand out will become clear shortly) as everyone generally asks where you come from and what you do for a living. That gets pretty boring after about the 5th person. You then make a note of whether you liked that person- you should do this right away as you will probably forget.

At the end of the time when you have been round everybody so to speak, everyone fills in their forms marking the people they want to contact again – this is why you want to stand out. If you have ticked someone and they have also ticked you, the organisers put you in touch with each other. Obviously to maximise your chances you could tick everyone but I'm not sure if the organisers are wise to that.

Go with an open mind and ready for a laugh and you will enjoy it. I would suggest that you go with a friend as there is a bit of hanging about at the beginning and it's all a bit awkward.

    speed dating

I would only go on one of those if I was either desperate or over-randy.

A girl at work met someone whilst speed dating and they're now happily married. Another friend got a bit addicted to them and went to quite a few. At one he'd already met or gone on a date with everyone there whilst on another he got null points (ie no matches). Other male friends at work have been and they say that sometimes there's a shortage of blokes !!!! All seem to have enjoyed themselves.

I'd be more inclined to go to a regular date, under the influence of speed.

I'd rather visit the numerous no-strings websites that I keep hearing about.

would whoever told about them tell you again, except a little louder, please, because I didn't quite hear properly the first time around.

Pick the right one at the right venue. I went to one at a s**** wine bar type place and it was full of estate agent types wide boys with slip on shoes (In November!) and lawyer type ladies all looking for a rich profesional with whome they could align schedules.

I thought I could clean up as a bit of handsome arty type (I worked in teh waterstone's next door at the time) a la Ally Mcbeal.
Suffice to say it didn't work as I planed.

I found internet dating was better as the number of ladies was increased. There were only 12 speed dating and many more online.

Everyone seems to fall into several categories: Busy people with limited time for going out looking, looking for a sh@g, serial daters (inc bunny boilers), the odd one or two people just trying a different approach to stop meeting gits.

There must be better drugs to go dating on than speed. Viagra for one.
