Had a 2.6 Butcher Gripton on the back (inflated on a Hope 35W). Found that at the pressures I was running the previous tyre, a HR2 2.4 3£ MaxxTerra, the Butcher would squirm and feel like it was about to pop off the rim, and pumping it up to stop that happening meant it was pinging all over the place. It eventually failed at just above the bead from what looked like abrasion while I was mincing down Insufficient Funds at BPW.

Volume-wise, it wasn’t much bigger than a Slaughter 2.3 I had on the same rim on the hard tail.

It was replaced with a Wild Enduro 2.4 Gum-X- a far, far, far better tyre.

The Hill Billy 2.6 on the front seemed OK I thought, until that was replaced with a WE 2.4 Gum-X as well. The HB is on the front of the hard tail which barely gets used, and the Gum-X front is on the rear now for winter, and a new Magi-X2 just been put on the front.

The only “plus” of the Butcher was that it literally never seemed to wear the tread down.
