I’m comfortable in spesh 2fo roost flat shoes for reference.

    They are 10.5/29cm long

My feet are 115mm wide. Obvious answer is spesh shoes 👍🏻 but what else should I be looking at that are not slim fitting (looking at you 5:10)?

Shimano used to be good but that was eons ago!

Lake shoes are available in wider fittings

    Spesh 2fo clips?

I have an older pair that I find decent

*Edit, why don’t I read posts properly 🤣

I really like my Shimano ME7, my all time favourite shoe.

I went to find a link, and have now discovered that somehow I’d missed the news they’d been discontinued. Gutted. I’ve not found anything else with the features I loved.

    Helpful post, I know.

I’ve ME5 and they’re not narrow IME. There’s sales on both the ME5 and ME7 at the moment so I’d order a pair to try on.

The ME7 regularly get very good reviews (some even ‘best in test’).

My ME5 have been bombproof for the last 4 years (I can’t seem to kill them) and been used across general mtb, gravel, hike-a-bike as well as big rides (circa 300km) and have been great at everything. They’re more discreet looking to the ME7. The new ones look pretty similar to mine but have boa closures instead of the ratchet type on mine.

Wide feet here, currently experimenting with Hellcats and they seem to fit ok compared to most!

Having a bugger of a time getting them to work with my pedals, but I think that’s a different issue!

ME7’s haven’t changed much in years so I’d expect a new shoe to come out this year.

Another shoe I’ve had my eye on was the Shimano EX7

They do them in regular shoes, without the Goretex and neoprene cuff, but I’d prefer the ones pictured above.

Similar here, I bought some Hellcat Pros a couple of years ago. Great fit and very comfy, but they really don’t play well with my Nukeproof CS pedals. To the point I’ve stopped using them.

I’m now using some Bontrager ones I got in a sale from Balfes. Spot on size-wise, nice big toe box for my extra large toes!

Recently bought some 2fo clipless shoes and although not ridden in them yet, the fit is slightly wider then my older Specialized Recons.

If you need wide fit, dont be fooled by some brands so called wide fitting thats just a few mm wider in the middle with the same narrow toe box (sidi).

    Shimano AM9s are pretty wide.
worth knowing that Shimano do a variety of lasts – have a poke round their website and it gives you the info.

Ive recently bought some Leatt shoes, and they fit my wide feet well. Other than those, all mine are shimano.

Sidi do a wide fit in most of their shoes. Regular fit Sidi is quite narrow.

I have tried Shimano and Spesh, and for me Shimano are too narrow and don’t accomodate higher insteps.

The spesh vent evo xc/gravel are perfect for my foot. Not lots of grip in slop mind

Those Cedric Gracia Northwave clip shoes seem wide. Good tread too

    https://www.bicycleretailer.com/new-products/2015/07/20/northwaves-enduro-shoe-developed-gracia-and-michelin

I too have proper wide feet. way to wide fit Adidas 5-10s AM9s we’re ok  (the old model with flap over laces)

    https://www.mbr.co.uk/reviews/shoes/shimano-am9-shoe

I’ve stopped with flats due to a spine injury. Long story. Nerve damage even 3 years in means weak calf so feet further forward than clips will allow. Sadly my Northwaves (black and red – pretty much unused) are 10 I think so likely wouldn’t fit you.
I have some of those AM9s in uk 11 I think.
    Are you near Brighton?

If it is true about the ME7 being discontinued then what will I buy in 3 years time when my current ones finally give up the ghost?
Can’t buy spares now as that goes against my buying kit principles (plus I’ve nowhere to store them and I’ll forget I have them!)…
If that is true then that is a royal pain in the backside!

    Wide feet ?  Lake shoes.

They do a proper real wide last too.

In my road shoes, they are the 1st time I’ve ever been comfy.  I was able to go for a size 44.5, whereas I’ve always had to go to 46 to not get numb crushed toes across the ball of my foot.  47 in 1 pair of Shimano winter boots !

I’m going to have to buy a spare pair of ME7’s I think. Current ones have been my single pair of cycling shoes since before Covid lockdown. Previously I’ve had a couple of sets on the go, but when the ???, (can’t even remember) second pair failed, just didn’t seem a need to replace them. Needs a new pair of speedlaces, but no shoes outlast Shimano.

    But no shoes outlast Shimano.

    Unfortunately, I have to disagree.

I had two pairs of ME5s where the sole came away from the shoe. First ones I got warrantied, and then the replacements did the same 18mths later.

In my experience Sidi outlasts any other brand as they can be rebuilt, albeit they sit firmly at the XC end of things. Nevertheless they do Mega sizes which are wide. Because the Mega sizes are uncommon you do often see them on offer.

Sidi Mega is not wide. Its 4mm wider than their standard shoes with the same narrow toebox.

Even with the extra 4mm they’re no wider than specialized, shimano, bontrager etc.

I guess it depends on how wide you need! I have fairly average width feet and comfortably fit Sidi’s standard sizes so I guess Mega would be really wide for me.

If you want the widest range (pardon the pun!) then Lake seem to offer something for every foot shape.

As I mentioned, Sidi are also very XC focussed. Their MTB shoes are basically their road shoes with scant grip attached. That’s why I love them, but it’s horses for courses.

Shimano changed their lasts significantly a few years ago.  I’ve a wide forefoot and high instep – the early ME7’s were a great fit (as were old AM9’s).  The ones I bought a couple of years ago looked the same but were completely different and, even though they’re supposed to be the ‘volume last’ were way too narrow and low volume.

5:10 (and the Adidas Trailcross) are low volume.

Specialized generally good.  Also look at Crank Brothers.

I’ve found my newish 5:10 Impact Pro Mids pretty roomy – just right for me across the front of my relatively wide feet (long toes too!) – though they’re flat pedal shoes obvs.

I’ve got some Bontrager XC/Trail spd shoes that are nice and wide.

@ajantom the flat shoes seem a different fit. and K says that 5:10 Adidas changed their sizing/fits at some point – the stuff that house of Fraser has been selling off is old fit, whereas she bought and returned some other 5:10s recently that were new fit.

Just got a pair of Specialized 2fo Cliplites and can confirm they’re super roomy across the toes and high volume as well (they still do up on me with reasonably parallel sides up the tongue).   (however, sizing is as madly inconsistent as ever.  I’m definitely a 46 in Specialized based on foot length, which they say is a UK 11.25. Feet were measured last week and I’m a 9.5-10 in UK sizes which is consistent with me being 285 ski boot/japanese sizing)
