So, I’m installing an electrical socket in the campervan, but it will be mounted into a removable bench. I’m after a connector that I can put on the cable behind the socket to allow me to disconnect it when the bench is to be removed.

If I Google 240V 3 pin connector I seem to get the big blue hookup type things, which isn’t really what I’m after. There must be something smaller/more slimline (I’m sure I used to have something similar on a lawnmower lead)

Can anyone point me in the direction of the kind of thing that I need?

Why not just mount another socket inside the bench and run a plug to that from the socket on the bench?

IEC C13 / C14 maybe? (The ‘kettle lead’ connector used on PCs.)

The neatest solution might be to just wire a regular mains socket on the wall, and have an extension of sorts on the bench?

IEC male and female connectors as Cougar says. Low profile. Just remember to put them on the right ends – live supply is female mmkay? 😉

Would it not make more sense to mount the socket on the wall of the van behind the removable bench then intigrate a short extention into the bench that allows access to a second socket once the bench is in place?

Yep, having thought about it, I think there’s going to be some sort of multiple socket solution.
