With a decent full-suss costing as much as a car (well my car, at least), i’m wondering, if I take the plunge and buy one, how should I insure it – add onto home insurance (not sure if that would cover me if the bike was nicked while i’m out and about/ from my car etc.), or is there bike-specific insurance for this purpose?

Insurance via home policy, but you may need to switch provider

Insure via home insurance policy. Pedalcover are good.

Insured via house policy. Insured in a locked garage, in a locked vehicle or locked to an immovable object. Oddly there’s no minimum lock standard specified.

As standard on home insurance, think it was for any bike upto £2k, anything higher had to be named and the price went up.

It even included ‘away from home’ and ‘accidental damage’ cover, which implies they’d pay to fix it if I crashed! Not been cheeky enough to try that one, but nice to know if I ever bought something more fragile or bling.

Barclays – up to £3.5K for the most expensive, all others covered without having to name them it seems, accidental damage cover. £36 pa.
