My boss’s brand new (at the time) 12 plate 110 crew was leakier than my ’89 90 td. Within 2 years it had rust in the chassis especially the rear crossmember. The panel fit and finish was terrible and the interior was possibly flimsier than mine (although mine was ex raf).
Defenders are not cars, they are slightly faster tractors with more than one seat.
I feel very sorry for those who lost a heap of cash but it seems to me that like in the T5 world where unscrupulous scammers rip people off with badly fitted mdf interiors sold for Cali money that people need a bit of due diligence. Handing over vast quantities of cash basically on a promise is madness. Unfortunately whilst people are prepared to do it the scanners will be able to continue.
I hope there is some sort of happy ending somewhere but my sympathy is reduced somewhat by the attitude displayed by MOT. I’m no Defender expert but I made sure I knew what I was buying when I did and like previous VW and LR based purchases, yes a hammer was used to aid the purchase decision.
