    I understand the theory, the smaller hole distance on the plate matches the recesses on the pins, but how the arse do you fit one? I’ve just failed and subbed it for a piece of chain instead.

    Push it through the chain, fit one side, bend the chain towards you and pop the other side on. 🙂

    Use the chain to bend the link then snap the plate on.

    what Stu said, act like you are loosening a stiff link but only from one side, i find then much easier than the standard links
