My Dads ‘cutting edge’ Nokia 2730 has finally sh*t the bed and he’s in need of a new phone.

Hes not really in need of the latest and greatest in hand sets, but he’d welcome being able to check his email and possibly track expenses/excercises and some maps on a phone.
He’s out of contract and just spend a bunch on his bill over 5 weeks in Canada, so likely up for a reasonable upgrade deal from Vodafone Business.

So, whats the best ‘smartish phone’ option for dummys?

    Windows phone?

I would go and try one in shops with him. I really liked a Windows ONokia phone, but mrs_oab could not stand the Windows OS, or the size of the Nokias.
She tried a Samsung on Android and liked it – just ‘got’ how it worked, and was smaller.
But I have an HTC on Android that neither of us a keen on – little things like the pull ring THEN unlock thing, or where the on/off button is (inaccessible) etc.
Go and get him to try them.

Samsung E2600 is very good. Can access email etc (will even sync with an Exchange server) and has an excellent battery life.

    Cheap as well.

I had one for well over a year and loved it
