It’s time to add a small milling machine to the workshop. Any owners of cheper models out there? I don’t think I’ll stretch to a Bridgeport. Really need a chunk of change from £1000. I’ve been looking at the Axminster and Warco offerings and seen a few AMA models on ebay which look like they came from the same factory as Warco. Any other options? Can’t seem to find many 2nd hand.

… or just post pictures of your impressive set-up to make me feel inadequate 😯

Hey nickjb, can you just put a small flat on this bit of 6mm barstock for me with that ^^^^ 😉

    Generally, small mills = crap

No power, no tool inertia, sloppy slides and drives etc

If you have the space, a s/h (it will be very s/h!) Bridgeport really is the answer. Also, it’s really really annoying to get a mill, and find the table can’t actually accomodate the first job you want to do……….

I use a Sherline – on the left here:

It’s small, but works well for me.

http://www.lathes.co.uk is more than handy for s/hand bits. Room for something like a Harrison?
