  • Small 110 BCD bashguard or short 104 BCD cranks?

Trying to set a bike up with short (ideally around 160mm) square taper cranks and a single ring (most likely a 28T in the inner position on a triple), with a bashring or similar on the spider to provide a bit of trouser/shoelace/chain drop protection and to stop it looking bobbins. Without spending much money.

I can easily get the cranks I want in 110mm BCD flavour, and I’ve already got a bashring in 104mm 4-arm flavour. Which means I want one or other of the following:

    – a 34/36T-sized bashring for 110mm 5-arm

    – short cranks for 104mm 4-arm, somewhere near £30

But I’m not having much luck so far. Anyone know of anything?

e thirteen did a 110 5 bolt bash, probably covers up to about 40t or so, but with enough “meat” that it covers my 34t. I’m using it for the same trouser-protecting reasons

I bought one used at the weekend, cant seem to find many new ones though

Spot components do/did one. Like this –

Don’t know if they’re still in business though.

https://bbgbashguard.com  -plenty of options here, they ship worldwide from memory

Edit: https://bbgbashguard.com/shop?olsPage=products%2F110bcd-34t-cyclocross should do the trick

Thanks, I’d seen the BBG but assumed postage would be more than it is (which is $13.50). They have a plain-looking 110/36 which is probably ideal. Thanks.

There’s a 110BCD BlackSpire one on eBay for £15 – only gives diameter, not chainring size though.

    (Sorry, can’t link at work)

Cheers. Found it. Definitely bigger than I’m after, but thanks.

Can you not make a 110 bash guard cheaply out of an old chainring ?

Maybe, but I want something that doesn’t look like poop 🙂

If only you could attach the chainring to something and spin it round whilst you finish it to keep it smooth and even for a tidy finish…. 😉

Yeah, but I’m not sure I have stuff to hold it with adequate stability and I don’t think I have a suitable cutting tool.

Actually I might have a blackspire one but it’s about 10mm thick… I can check tonight.

Yeah, seen them, but I prefer their 160mm ones for £25 😉
