Sleeping bag liners?

Are they any good for increasing warmth? Basically its getting colder and my enthusiasm for bivvi'n is increasing but my sleeping bag isn't quite up to the job for keeping me warm I suspect. Its a mountain equipment starlight 2 me thinks, synthetic jobbie.

I've seen the life venture silk one off go outdoors, whatdyareckon?

Only add a degree or too.. designed to be easier to clean than the actual bag.

New bag or wear clothes..

I like liners – they add a wee bit of warmth in the winter and a wee bit of coolth in the summer. I always use a silk liner in my down bags… plus I can clean the liner a lot easier than the bags 😉

But I think it sounds like you need a warmer bag… and a liner whilst you are at it 😉

I don't like them much, mainly because I get all tied up in them, but then I don't usually sleep that well in sleeping bags, I do alot of tossing and turning (oh er missus! 😯 ), that's probably to do with the mat being a bit uncomfortable. I now prefer to wear a lightweight pr of long johns and a long sleaved baselayer to try and keep the bag clean.

I've used a fleece liner in a 2 season synthetic in early March at something below zero (my water bottle froze). It was a painful night's sleep but a lot better than if it had just been the bag alone.
