BTW Someone above mentioned using 200mm rotors with Rockshox Rebas. Yes, they are rated for them but I wouldn't recommend it. Two of my friends have gone through a set of bushes in no time at all after a week of Alps riding resulted in a lovely rattly feeling. The extra stress of big rotors, Alps riding and dare I say it, extra 29er leverage, seem to see them off in no time at all. Word has it that the latest forks from Rockshox come with slightly looser bush/stanchion tolerance than they used to. This is so that they feel great out of the box and need very little bedding in. Seems that it can result in accelerated wear though! If you've had this problem you will be told that replacement lowers is the only option as fitting bushes requires a specialist tool which is not sold over here (convenient!). To save cash, you'll need to find a shop with a tool and a friendly mechanic.

I think we'll be seeing 36mm stanchions with beefed up bushes for 29ers in the next few years…
