My turn.
Some **** has broken into my flat – jimmied a first floor window – and pinched my mountain bike.
Luckily that was all that was taken and the place wasn’t wrecked and my cats are ok, if rubbish as guard dogs. And I have insurance.
Anyway, it’s a unique bike, so if you see it about or up for sale anywhere – please let me know.

Gravity dropper seatpost with Zitto lever, black and red WTB saddle

Thats crap. I always feel a bit smug keeping my bikes in my house when reading about those who have had theirs stolen from rickety wooden sheds, from roofracks & other stupid places to leave thoudands of pounds work of kit. The house seems very safe in comparison,
Glad your cats are ok.
yes – lots of bikes get nicked in Edinburgh. 2 different groups – neds with boltcroppers taking what they can find and punting them on locally for the price of a fix. Pro gangs that target expensive bikes and sell them abroad.
Dammit. Great shot of it at the croft though. Bikes today are like the escort cosworth of the 90s. Easy to steal and hard to get caught. Hope you get it back, unique enough that it should be easy to find if the feckers are stupid enough to flog it online.
Yes, and the thefts are alarmingly ‘precise’ at times. Not sure if this is due to Strava, geotagged photos, bike racks on cars or what, but the thieves often seem to be well informed about the location of decent bikes.
I had mine stolen from my garage in Edinburgh 2 weeks after moving in. Maybe someone saw me arriving with it on the roof. Or it was my bike rack in the driveway. A few months later I had a replacement, in the driveway fixing the gears and brakes, that night shed and garage got broken into and 3 bikes stolen, must have been spotted outside with the bike. Both times bolt cutters was all they used. Now I have a really secure garage door and a new shed that’s built like a house with a 16mm chain round my bikes. Plus cctv, security lights and garage alarms. Still not convinced they won’t steal them again though!!!
3 nights ago my neighbors camera caught someone trying to break into another neighbors front door, while they were at home. Failed to get in, tried to steal their car anyway but failed. Seems like there was a group of them, young lads. Face caught on camera so hopefully the police have a chance to identify them.

or posting on here?
I’ve never met the OP but i reckon I could find the location of his flat in about 10 mins.
We often unthinkingly reveal a lot about ourselves without realising.
Just from memory, I know that the OP lives in a first floor tenement flat (complete with piped in beer tap) above the flat roof of a particular shop in Edinburgh.
Nightmare mate, Edinburgh does seem to be getting like Scotland’s Sheffield or Bristol.
Hopefully the thicko west coast criminal won’t catch on, it warms my heart that this bike is left ‘locked’ like this every night down the road from me, I think it’s a chef from a local eatery….🙄😂

And so now does everyone else, although i’m sure that wasn’t the intention.
Yes, the being followed home one, I know all about that. Sometimes worth taking turns off the main road with little notice to see whether the best up car behind follows you!
It’s possible this was a targeted thing, but I don’t think through following home/strava as I’m in a tenement of quite a few flats in a built up area, so you couldn’t pinpoint to my flat. Could be possible from posting history on here, but would have taken quite a lot of work..
Seems (at least according to police who came round) that it is likely opportunistic – someone has climbed up on the roofs and seen my bike through the window. Bike theft is pretty big in tow, guess folk make their living off of it.
Lucky in that my other CX bike (similar value) was left as well as the guitars and laptop etc.
Hopefully no issues with the insurance – should be ok as it is a recorded housebreaking.
