Yeah I did very well on the frame. I spotted a rear triangle with rockers etc on ebay for $70 plus shipping, so gambled that I would be able to pick up a front triangle. Took a couple of months to find, but somebody on here had a spare, and thus a whole frame was born. Took around 3 months from start to finish, but worth it 🙂

Vortex your is looking very nice in black mate!!

How does it ride with the 150mm revs?

Neiloxford… how does your ride on the 140mm forks?

I have no comparison as I have no access to 150mm forks and I only took it for a quick spin yesterday. I will know more after a dry weekend of cycling (hope I do not have to wait long !). I would also be interested in what Vortex thinks.

NOOOOOO – it was such a nice looking bike – why the red? WHY?

I’m possibly looking at selling the Vans to fund either some 36’s, ‘Zocchis or Lyriks putting up to 160. I feel it could really benefit from something a little harder-hitting up front but that maybe just because of the way I like to ride it.

I would agree exactly with Trailmoggy. In fact I am just trying an 1deg offset headset, but TBH I think it’s better in std form.

I did think about a 160mm fork but the 150mm rev has been great for everything.

The bike was designed around that length A-C BTW

    What size is that iwluap?

The one I’m getting is an xl wearing 150mm revs hope wheels etc.

Ahhh, so what your saying Dave is the mk 1 dw link 5spot has a 69 degree head angle with forks that have a A-C length the same as 150mm revs?

I always thought the mk1 dw link was the same geometry as my old Horst link, which was 69 degree with 130mm forks…..so when every 10mm sets the head angle back roughly a degree it made it 67…..

The new 5spot has a 67 degree head angle with a 150mm length fork…so I thought mine had the same head angle as the new 5spot

It’s probly just me being daft……..

    Turner 5.Spot geometry

    Head angle 68.6
    EFF Seat Angle 72.6
    EFF Top Tube 23″
    Chainstay 16.9 mm
    Bottom Bracket 13.7″
Actual Frame Size (seatube length) 17″
    Standover 30.2″
Based on a 525mm axle to crown fork with a 26″x2.3″ tire

    neiloxford

    So 69.1 with 515mm A-C and 68.1 with 535mm A-C

    I understand the Fox Float 140 is 515mm A-C

    I think the Revelation 150 are 528mm A-C

near as dammit yeah, trailmoggy, the axle to crown on the 150mm rev is 529mm @ 150mm travel.

so the spot with that fork @ 150mm is about 68.6deg.

the later DW spots are 67.5deg.

2010, in large, fitted with 150mm Revelation RLT’s.

Also own this 2006 RFX, but now fitted with 180mm 😯 66’s…

No longer with us and somewhat retro, but this went to a great many places and (s)miles with me.

    Replaced with this:

Which, despite being a better bike, got nobbled by the unfortunate timing of 29ers coming into their own.

See now all the pictures you lot are posting up make you bikes look quite slack at the front whereas the 09 I had felt quite steep.

Im 6 foot 1 and a bit and found the large to short in the top tube even with a 100mm stem, was quite disheartening really as I had saved loads of cash to buy it and had to sell it within 3 weeks as I just couldnt get right on it.

The xl Im getting is near enough the same size wise with my large stumpy ive just sold., not sure what it is with the stumpys, like the look of them but they feel “wooden” if that makes sense whereas even though it was to small the suspension on the 5 spot felt amazing!

    here she is/was.

The one im buying has full deore 30 speed, hope wheel and rev 150mm forks, looking forward to getting it now !!

My 2011 xl with a 90mm stem was perfect for me at 6’3″ too, I’d go xxl with a shorter stem if anything, large would defo be too small

Planning on a 50mm stem on this!!
