It might work – no guarantee 😉

Yes it really works. I did it on my XT brakes (pretty much the same) and they did not need bleeding.

Having said that, a bleed kit from the bay isn’t that expensive and work having in the tool box for future use.

I’ll get a bleed kit for the future, but I’m thinking in the short term.

Just follow the instructions (they’re a bit vague so think before you act if that makes sense) but bear in mind that the hose is effectively vacuum sealed by the caliper so the oil can’t leak out of the hose so long as you’re careful and make sure you keep the lever flat and still and you should be right.

I’ve never owned disc brakes before and I managed to do mine without needing to bleed.

    Cheers

I did two deores on the same evening. One needed a bleed the other didn’t.

Watch out when you bolt back together that everything is pushed firmly together before you torque up.

    Also remember ‘nut’ then olive.

I assume you have the hose end bit kit and yellow hose gripper block thingy.

I used a set of mole grips as a portable vice round the block.thingy while i tapped the end piece into the hose. Worked pretty well.

Just fitted SLX brakes to my bike, the hoses are a bit too long.

Does the bleed-less method on t’interweb really work?

Don’t wanna go opening up the system and then having to bleed them as I don’t have a bleed kit.
