Why do shoe shops, sports shops and so on always lace their shoes up in such an awkward way? The laces end up pointing inside the shoe, the cross in strange ways, often far more awkward to do than conventional lacing? Always have to completely strip them out and redo. What is going on?

Or when they’ve laced them both but in different ways. It’s a real bind for the lazy as I have to change at least one of them

My god.. that site is a work of genius. I have been tying my shoe laces wrong (granny knot) all my life!

So they look better on the displays, even if it means you can’t actually do them up properly.

I used to work in a sports shop and am still a dab hand at lacing up a pair of trainers…

Ian’s shoelace site is indeed genius, 44 years old and I just learnt a new way to tie my laces to stop them coming undone …thanks
