    You can get them, but I'd be dubious… I think that Easton actually have a warranty disclaimer against their use.

    Personally, I wouldn't use one, wouldn't want any risk of failure of interface between stem and handlebars – I'd see a shim as an additional component to go wrong. I'm sure others will come along and say it's fine and they've been doing it for years!

    The marzocchi DH stem on my 223 has a shim on it for standard bars – its just 2 halves of a cylinder that clamp down between the stem & bars. Not sure if you can buy them seperately but I've never had any problems – never really thought about it tbh!

    Yes you can get them, even Thomson make one. Between £4-10 at your LBS hopefully. Nothing wrong with shims but you might as well buy new bars…
