The HTII BB has given up the ghost on my MTB, I have an old but working Dura Ace one knocking around however as I have a 68mm BB shell I’m going to have to use spacers, do the road BBs have the same amount of thread than the the MTB versions to allow me to do this?

Road BB are designed to work on 68mm shell and without spacers…

the bearing cups are also narrower that MTB ones

Not that much thread on road ones so you will need enough to make up the 5mm to the MTB width, plus the difference between the the bearing shells..

    worth a go though..

i’ve been using a 105 bb with slx cranks on a dmr frame for a while now, and it seems to be just fine (despite what i was told by a local shop…).
    definitely worth a shot.
