Afternoon guys just a quick sanity check.

From what I understand this tab isn’t to pinch the cranks up against, more of a safety tab should the cranks come loose.

I’ve torqued each bolt to 15nm, alternating from bolt to bolt until tight. The plastic tab has far more of a gap compared my previous Shimano X9’s, can anyone have a quick look on theirs and see what sort of gap there is?

Gap is almost equal to another plastic tab in thickness.

Yep, just a safety tab to stop the cranks falling off if they come loose. If the two bolts are tightened evenly to the correct torque (12nm I thought, but whatever it says on the crank) then you’re good.

The gap doesn’t matter – its not a spacer, just a safety tab as per drover’s response. You can run the cranks without it.

I’ve checked two different models on my bikes and visually there’s a difference
One looks like yours, the other seems to be much closer, same torque wrench used
    As above^^
