Seeing as Shimano have decided, no doubt for some extremely sound engineering reason, to make the pads for their new flat mount calipers ever so slightly different from the old ones, has anyone seen aftermarket pads to fit that don’t cost a 15-20 quid a pair? The usual suspects (superstar, uberbike) don’t seem to have anything and my google skills are failing me.

People moan about SRAM introducing new standards but I’m coming to the opinion that shimano are worse- SRAM flat mount pads are exactly the same as post mount

Standard shimano / japanese marketing – the idea is to lock you into only buying their products by making it non standard / making it difficult for aftermarket suppliers

The frustrating thing is they’d been doing so well. Nearly all their brakes bar the 4 pot ones seemed to have settled on the same pad until flat mount came out.

I got a couple of pairs of these

Don’t know how long they will take to arrive but they are on their way.

Cheers, that’s getting closer to reasonable. Still hoping for some sintereds though!

I did find BBB are doing some sintereds but they are still around £15 a pop.

Hopefully that means it won’t be long until the aftermarket guys get going
