Is there any reason I can’t use FC-M8050 cranks that Shimano list as compatible with E6100 systems, on an EP8 motor…? I had assumed (possibly incorrectly) that all Shimano Steps motors were Hollowtech fitment and thus any Hollowtech fitment ebike cranks would be compatible? My new Orbea Rise has come with some 170mm E13 cranks, keen to upgrade to shorter and higher spec ASAP…

Have a look/ask on the EMTB Orbea forum as this has come up a couple of times 😉

Believe you’ll need the M8150 ones

Cheers Spannermonkey, managed to find the info after having to dig much deeper than I should probably have had to! You are correct though… M8150 XT or the EM900 or EM600 cranks only for the EP8. Seems they’re a lower profile fit on the axle than the older cranks.

Which is a PITA but rather find that out now than after having bought some incompatible cranks at least!

NP, Will you be able to reuse the E13 chainring on the Shimano cranks?
