Took my 11r Yr old to Dalbeattie last weekend and he managed the blue trail without any difficulties, so thought I’d take him to sherwood pines tomorrow. I’ve not been to Sherwood pines for about 6 years and having looked at clips of the red route on YouTube thought we might give it a go but before I throw him in at the deep end, how does the sherwood pines red compare with Dalbeattie blue ?

Can’t speak for Dalbeattie, but an 11 y/o could ride Sherwood on a Unicycle. With a flat tyre.

It’s fun in places, but not technical at all.

Ideal for a beginner…totally boring for an experienced rider. At least one of you will be happy 😉

Not. Rewards going as fast as you can. Good fun though regardless of being technical.

Last time we went we took a 4 year old on a child seat round it.

We were advised by some lads heading off about the same time we were that we wanted the family cycling route. They were wrong.

Not technical, but that was 3-4 years ago.

It’s good fun, flat out on a cyclocross bike. Seen a few children and parents riding it succesfully.

Thanks for that, red it is then. I think I’ll take my CX rather than the susser though.

Did 2 laps of it last weekend. The inlaws live 1 mile from it so no excuse not to, and gets me away from them for a bit.

Very rarely need to use the brakes, can be fun if you hammer round.

I slowed to pass kids who must have been 5/6 yes old.
