    just been given a free piano 😀

    trying to start playing again, i know all the notes and can play rustily, but forgotten a bit of the sheet music terminology.

    On this sheet what do i do for the 1 and 2 labelled bits

    There are repeat marks there (dots and double line at the end of bar 9), which means you return to the start and repeat the music. the ‘1’ label is the part you play first time round, the ‘2’ label is what you play 2nd time round (skipping the ‘1’ label) before carrying on past the repeat marks.

    Just realised there are repeat marks later in the piece, for these you return to bar 11 (as written) which has the same repeat marks but ‘facing ‘ the other way (dots after the double line)

    as blobonastick says at bar 9 the first time around you go back to bar one and repeat but the second time around you miss out bar 9 and go straight to bar 10.

    when you get to bar 24 the first time around go back to bar 11, second time around miss out bar 24 and go straight to bar 25

    and so on
