I’ve got a question about the weight of campervan builds.

We are planning to build buy an L3/L4 H2 Ducati/Boxer and build a fully equipped camper to take with us on mountain bike trips around Europe. We’ll likely stay in it for weeks at a time meaning it will be a fairly in depth build.

I am wondering about weight. I am 30 and have a standard British license meaning I can only drive up to 3500kg. Given that most of these vans weigh 2000kg empty that leaves us with about 1500kg to do the build as well as carry all of out things. That seems like very little to me?

I’ve seen quite a few builds on here so I wonder if people can tell me about their builds in similar vans and their experience with weight during the build? There seems to be plenty of full equipped builds out there in similar vans anyway.

    Cheers

My L4 H3 four berth, full with bicycles, holiday gear, filled freshwater tank, gas tank and fuel tank came in at under 3000kg on the weigh bridge.
