A couple of the Locks on my Thule Roofbars have seized, I have tried squirting GT85 into them over the past couple of weeks, and although I can now get the keys in they still won't turn. Anyone got any ideas on how to free them off, or is the only option to drill them out, or is there another way to remove?

Try a dismantling lubricant like Plusgas. This is supposed to break down rust and corrosion as well as penetrating.

Alternatively try using diesel or paraffin

you can get replacement barrels for thule locks but I suspect you have to be able to undo the old ones to remove them…

Are they bars on roof rails (ie the 755, 757, 775 etc footpack)? If so pm me and I shall tell you how to remove the locks in seconds. Thule locks quite often sieze up unfortunately. The sliders in the barrels just rust and disintegrate.

Replacement locks are dirt cheap on Ebay I paid 9 quid for 4 locks. 12 quid for 6

    1. Insert flat blade screwdriver and turn.
    2. Buy new locks.
