has anyone done the annual 100km Seasons of Mist Audax that heads out from Hebden Bridge in October?
any insight into how steep the climbs are, or opinion as to how hard it is? there’s 2,500m of climbing so I’m thinking about gear choice.

It climbs to Heptonstall and over the Nick of Pendle, both steep…

Never done it, but tried a road bike for the first time in 20 years that way with a mate recently, nearly blew a lung in the first 10 minutes – you hit the Heptonstall climb almost cold from HB. Lots of steep both at the start and near the end. Hope that helps.

wow! what a ride. rode it yesterday.
the climb out of Hebden Bridge was a toughie with no warm up and then finished over cobbles!
weather was great – no wind, blue skies and a nip in the air.
scenery was amazing – climbing up on to the hill-tops and seeing the mist filling the towns below was an incredible sight.
Lots and lots of climbing – started to feel weary after 50 miles but after a short stop to fix a puncture managed to get back to Hebden Bridge without being broken.
Next time I might choose a smaller gear than 39-25…
