Make sure you get the cycling route – it diverges from the walking one in several places (mostly to add a ball ache of a climb for cyclists, imo).
It must be the weekend for it – I’m also doing it on Sat with 5 others from my cub Redhill CC… Advice above has been read with interest – I’ve not done it for 10 years!
Still looking like it will be dry?
Dry and HOT by the time you get to Eastbourne.
If thirsty and time allows, turn left on the road at Jevington, 200m to the 8 Bells. Couple pints of Hophead to rehydrate before the last climb.
Well it was wetter than expected!!
First 30 miles were muddy with a couple of swamps on the lower or ‘bowled’ ground…..was soaking after 10 miles 😀
Dried up for the second half, just as the saddle seemed like it was coated in 60 grit!!
Miles 55-75 seemed to take forever…..but not as long as the 3h20 train back to Winchester.
Not sure I will do it again, now that I have done it once.
Thanks for the tips, Mark
