Amazon man forced the envelope through the letter box with much force, ripping the cardboard and scratching the metal over 1 inch where my finger is.

Will this have any effect, like a scratched stanchions ?

I’d prefer to keep it as I don’t like reverse logistics but not prepared to compromise function.

It would seem like the red bit with a rubber seal has to slide past the road so my assumption is that I should get a new one but wanted to check.

Struggling to see the scratch in your pic, but I’d say if you can feel the scratch, then it will rub on and degrade your seal over time, would definitely return it in that case.

Get a replacement.

Yes I can feel the sctrach with my nail. It doesn’t show in the photo though.

It’s probably shafted, send it back.

Send it back. High chance it will leak and pressurize the lowers over time.
