    Hi All,
Returning to UK from Malaysia for a month in the summer and planning to ride several of the 7stanes over 4-5 days. Went there a few years ago but cannot really remember where. – Hence the help required..

So,,,looking to ride good XC – not really DH, like the wild stuff as in remote – have a dw turner and mate has an orange alpine.

What would you recommend – in terms of places to stay and places to ride.

    Any suggestions welcom.

    cheers

Kirroughtree gives a remote Scottish style feelng and is more like riding in the natural Cairngorms than a trail center.

From what you are saying it sounds more like you would prefer proper remote rides to trail centers and in that respect try:

    Torridon
    Skye
    Cairngorms

Epic fail, some of the best xc is over in inners

EDIT: although to be fair drumlanrig is fantastic

Borders for a day or two – Glentress and innerleithan.

Laggan for the natural and remote feel while still being on a trail centre. One of the classic highland rides at least – Beinn A ghlo circuit or similar

    Have you considered Wrexham?

    Thanks all,
What about places to stay in these locations – are there bunkhouses or should i just use google – not sure it would be anywhere as useful as the STW collective though?

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

    Keep em coming

If you search site like photobucket, flickr, youtube and vimeo for pics & vids you will get a flavour of the Stanes.

To get the best out of Southern Scotland and the Borders you might consider enlisting the guiding skills of the stw massive 😆

Kinlochleven would be good for a day or two, great hostel and pub at the foot of several epic trails, bothies aplenty in the hills behind.

All the benefits of a trail centre with the potential for some long wild routes as well.

do the 7stanes that you want and just go as north as Stirling if you've only got 4 days. Definitely do Kirroughtree. We'll show you round Stirling trails. They're amazing.

Do the West Highland Way, some of the best scenery in the UK and really remote feeling, all over 3 days! 😀

Can't understand why you would come to Scotland and focus on trail centres. Do one or two that take your fancy then get out onto the natural trails to get the experience that makes Scotland one of the world's top mountain biking destinations.

    Must do's:
Cairngorms – lots of accomodation in Aviemore (and Laggan quite close)
    Ft William
Torridon – Torridon Inn, YHA, Achnasheen Bunkhouse
