Our Samsung heat pump keeps shutting down due to low flow rate. I’ve cleaned the inline filter etc and the engineer is going to come out, but maybe not until Monday. We can do without heating, but can the hot water still be heated using just the immersion style heater on the tank? If so how? Thanks.

If you do indeed have an immersion element on the cylinder then it will be perfectly safe to operate it independently of the heat pump.

There may be a switched fuse connection unit attached to the immersion. Look for a switch with a neon light. Send us a pic of your cylinder cupboard if you’re not sure.

Cheers goldfish24, sorted it. On the control panel, press and hold < and > to change menu, then press Mode to turn hot water on.

    Thanks

In case this is brought up by a future search, the issue was tracked down to a lump of foam insulation circulating within the system and getting trapped, restricting flow. Almost certainly caused before installation when the end of a pipe was dropped on insulation, taking a ‘core’ that was left in the pipe.

Can I ask how your ashp performs and is it easy to live with day to day?
