Like many others, my one a day fitness opportunity (which may yet be stopped due to people not following the rules…sigh) is now incorporating a tag along such as Kip Jr. We have a nice walking route we like to do that gets us out of the town really quickly and into the sticks with lovely views and some steep hills. We’re looking to increase our pace a bit and occasionally run/jog it but I’m having some app issues.

I use Strava. Got years of data on it. I also use a HRM, a Wahoo tickr which just works, except it doesn’t on the phone app because stupid Strava removed functionality because BLE made the app crash for millions of users (not me, not once). So, I tried the Wahoo fitness app, but that now has a GPS issue that if you lock the screen it stops recording GPS, FFS!!!

So, what fitness app that I can use a tickr on that will upload to Strava (via Connect if needs be) without syncing all my Strava data to it because I don’t need it to do that?

I could just carry my trusty 810 and record on that but I’d rather use an app.

    Cheers

Probably due to power saving features on the phone. Make sure you disable battery optimisation for that app.

Also try MyWorkouts. It can do a lot of stuff, including connecting to a HRM and upload to Strava etc. https://www.myworkouts.org/

I thought I had managed to find all the secret ways the app can be turned off but may have found an extra one, although “Battery optimisation” doesn’t exist under that name in the S9 settings as far as I can find.
However, myworkouts looks interesting so may give that a go if Wahoo still isn’t playing ball.
    Cheers.

Not always. I removed Strava as it just kept switching off recording, I had every setting on ‘allow’/’don’t switch off’.

As soon as I used Google fit, it was reliable and never switched off.

I think the Strava app was at fault.
