Personally I think there are better things to be doing than biking in this weather. Its quite fun biking in the snow but you can bike all year round. Not often you can snowboard in England!

Agreed, this weekend was beautiful on the Hills, got out and climbed Pen-y-fan in South Wales.

grumm: We went up from Patterdale via the mines & zig zags. My lad and his mate didn’t have crampons so we kept away from the steep stuff. Returned same way but dropped down towards the old reservoir to practice axe braking techniques. They were very surprised to find how difficult it is to get the pick in on neve & the speed you go down 🙂 A good introduction to snow safety

I went biking at Cwmcarn on Saturday – packed snow with studded tyres, it was ok. Sunday I went for a long road ride west along the coast, to avoid ice. It was absolutely sh*t. 5 frigging hours in the pouring wet sleet and snow, and my waterproof gear let me down badly 🙁

where sfb was thats would be fine, but I have to admit once the snow gets over 1ft deep you are better off doing something else.

That looks scarily steep, although the camera is clearly on a wonk, were you using crampons etc?
