I spent my holidays at my mum’s helping her clear rooms to make it presentable for photos. And then the estate agent has made a video, which shows all the hidden junk, toilet lids up, piles of boxes, random close ups of odd antiques/junk etc. Ah well. We tried.
But as a potential buyer, I much prefer the ‘honesty’ of that video compared to a few carefully chosen and ‘enhanced’ photos, as it gives me a much better sense of what the place is actually like. I can see straight away, that it’s going to need a lot of work to get it anywhere near what I’d consider decent, as it looks like it hasn’t had any maintenance work done for decades (save for the installation of some UPVC windows). Which for a property near the sea, isn’t good. So the estate agent is actually helping potential buyers, who may not be able to travel all the way to a remote location to view just one property, to have a much better informed view of what it’s really like. And it’s not their fault you didn’t actually clear all the crap out! Obviously sellers want to gloss over any negative points, but it’s buyers who’ll be lumbered with a potential money pit. So your estate agent has actually done a good job there, I’d say! Most unlike the majority…
