Motorhome Maximum Technically Permissable Laden Mass (MTPLM) = 3300KG

as far as I can work out – it would not be legal to cross a bridge marked with a 3 ton max weight limit

because
– law relates to plated weight of vehicle not actual weight
– bridge figures are in UK aka long tons
– 3300KG = 3UK tons 555.25lb = 3.248 UK tons

Imperial Ton is just over 1,000kg it’s about 1,015kg for easy maths so 3,045kg so yes 3300Kg is over the limit.

Remember, if your wheels aren’t touching the floor, you don’t weigh anythng! So, JUMP those pesky low rated bridges Dukes of Hazard stylee…… 😉

Do you also question the maximum height signs? Perhaps you could convert between metric and imperial to squeeze under those.

I think the point being suggested here is that they’re not as comparable as they seem. Height restrictions go on how high a vehicle is. Weight restrictions go on how heavy a vehicle can be, regardless of what it is currently.
