Kids mountain bike: 27.5″, fork RST Aerial 130 mm

Generally an o.k. fork for a kids bike. Very easy to service. “Non-winter time”: the kid is more than happy with the bike.

The fork is one of those which don’t have oil in the stanchions – when servicing them you only clean and grease. No idea if it’s possible to get the damper cartridge out or if there are RST spares around for the end customer…or if it’s possible to change the oil from the damping cartridge.

Winter – and temperature around or below freezing point: there is no (NO!) “spring” function anymore. Damping all open. Air pressure the same as always. But a fork like a brick…

Get the bike indoors and heat it up: the fork works again! There are forks which get goofy in cold weather…. – but NO function when it’s cold…?!? In the trail the forks starts working a bit. But a 5 min rest and the fork is frozen solid again.

Anybody around with a RST Aerial fork? Same issue? Is there any fix to that? Or simply wait for warmer spring time?
