- Rohloff on drops?
Hmm, I opened this thread thinking the o/p might have been asking how durable a rohloff was for hucking
The answer is ‘not very’ a few of the FOD boys tried them years back due being sick or ripping off rear mechs, sadly the hub internals don’t like being landed on repeatedly from a great height.Posted 4 years agoshandcyclesMember
Yup, we spec the Co-Motion shifter on our drop bar bikes. We also do the Gilles Berthoud shifter (the shiny silver one above) but it’s not available in the more modern 31.8 clamp diameter so bar (and stem) choices are a little limited.
Ton, while the shifter on the end of the bar is ok, the twin cables coming from the shifter can really get in the way. I much prefer it up top.Posted 4 years agotonSubscriber
I like how some of these shifters are mounted.Posted 4 years ago
an old guy I rode with would never change from down tube shifters. when asked why, he said reaching down for the shifters stopped him get stiff and uncomfy on the bars.
good idea I reckon, to have your shifter somewhere else.pikeydanMember
I’ve also experimented with the system that Ben has posted, as I have SLX m665 levers with very short blades. It works well, although difficult to shift when a big down pour of rain…but I’ve found it difficult to shift with the shifter in those conditions regardless.Posted 4 years ago
