Rockshox Revelation 2018 (35 mm stanchion) real world experience?
My Kingdom Vendetta X2 frame turned up on Tuesday morning. All very nice and now covered with my sweaty little paw prints… I have a full build ready to go, with the exception of…. a fork (2nd most expensive component).
I was planning to get a 2018 110-140 29″ Dual Position Pike, which I can see for €725 (yes, €s for me), or a 120 Pike for €697. However, I’ve spotted the new 120 Revelations, which I can get for €511, BUT there are no reviews I can find. There is a YT vid (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwr7sCeyaaQ) with the weight but no ride commentary. Do any of you lot have experience on one? I know my level as a rider and am not sure whether I’d notice Motion Control versus Charger 2, and there is <100 g difference in mass. What d’you reckon?

Yup, Yari was originally marketed as the budget Pike but was really a budget Lyrik. In the 2018 catalogue the Pike has been sort of downgraded to a trail/light enduro fork, with the Rev as the budget option, and the Lyrik/Yari are the burlier full-fat enduro options. 2018 Revs seem to be available cheaper than 2018 Yaris though, and my Bike is more trail than enduro so a Rev is probably more suitable. Unless I want Dual Position, which doesn’t seem to be offered in Rev form but only in Pike (and Lyrik). Decisions decisions!Posted 5 months ago
I haven’t seen anything TRJ. I’m holding off my fork purchase until February as I’m overseas most of the time til then. Quite tempting to get the Rev as the cost difference between them and Pike is almost exactly the price of a Charger 2 damper. Ergo, you can upgrade Rev to Pike later if needs be. Or maybe I’m missing something?Posted 4 months ago
