Following from the other skewer thread, I have Askium’s on the road bike, with Mavic QR’s – would changing to Shimano road qr’s be a good thing to do ? and if so which ones ? I can see Ultegra’s at Rose for a bit over £30 posted for a set

I would say that Mavic skewers are good IME. I wouldn’t change them.

It’d be good if you owned a bike shop selling those things, otherwise, no not particularly. What advantage do you expect to gain from changing them?

I use these on my proper road bike Iain. Mt Zoom Ti, had them a couple of years with no issues. I swapped these for rattly mavic ones.

just reading all the folks raving about how Shimano ones are more secure than anything else really.

For mtbs. I would trust Mavic skewers too.

Have you had any problems with the Mavic ones? If not then keep them.

If you’re not happy with them then the shimano ones do a great job.

thanks, I’ve not had any problems with the Mavic ones, albeit they and the wheels are quite new. Will stick with them, cheers
