I am interested to find out the gradients and classifications of some local road (West Yorkshire) climbs.

Anyone know where I can find this information?

    Thanks

strava does it when you define a segment.

Yes, but how accurate is Strava? Suspect it’s way out.

    mapmyride does it too.

in fact you can explore segments on strava and filter by category.

Strava occasionally shits itself but only because of people’s crappy GPS tracks. I know several dead flat cat 2 or cat 3 climbs.

    I’ll say

I discovered I have a ’24%’ gradient on one of my regular commutes.

    2% possibly? 🙄

Mapmyride seems to work pretty well.

There’s also this site which has loads of info about climbs – but maybe not ones you are interested in:

There are a couple I’m keen to explore.

The Cow and Calf in Ilkley and Holden Lane near Silsden, both are West Yorkshire.

Strava classifies them as category 4.

    Strava classification the Silsden Climb:

    And the Cow and Calf:

Notice that the Tour of Britain categorises the Cow and Calf as a category 1 climb. Bit of a discrepancy here!

There are no official categories, its up to each race director to state what cat the climbs are. Hence why KOM points are available in the flat stages of the Tour over lumps that would even be recognized at foothills a week later in the Alps.
