my 9speed tiagra shifters have given up on the bike.

the rear lost a bolt and in removing the bolt from the front shifter that has also failed! 😡

i NEED the bike as i’m supposed to be going on holiday with it next week (our holiday is semi based around me riding up some alps)

I can either take a fixed wheel (up alp d’huez yeah right)

I can’t really afford £200 for some shifters and aslo i am loathed to buy more 9speed tiagra when it’s clearly rubbish.

do i buy a bike off ebay with a 9speed groupo hoping it all works?
    buy some microshift shifters?
Put some bar end shifters on my nice modern road bike?

help a man out. i could cry.

PS i also have a campervan to finsih before we go 😯

I can sell you the 105 shifters off my old road bike if you want. How much were you looking to spend?

I also have a 105 chainset on the bike too, and various other parts if you are interested.

E-mail me: mikek@skylinecad.plus.com if you are interested.

    9s Tiagra are fine IM(wrench)E.

Not really sure what your problems are with Tiagra’s. You get what you pay for, but they work fine. If you really are short of cash, you can manage with just a Rear shifter. Are you sure you cannot fix what you’ve got, I’m just puzzled when you say you tried to remove a bolt and the shifter then failed?

do you mean you have managed to fix them? the double / triple shifter has never really worked properly for me.

Got some 9 spd Campags (and a rear mech) doing nothing in my garage.
Had a tumble, so one of ’ems a bit scratched, but works fine as far as I remember.
Email me if you want me to check em

No, just that they are generally extremely reliable IME.

I got some Ultegra 10s for around the £100 mark on CRC not so long ago. I picked up second hand bits to complete the conversion to 10s for under £150. I’m sure you can sort your issue cheaply if you look on ebay etc.
