  • Ritchey carbon bars – should I replace them?

    Hi,

Looking for some advice. Have recently cracked a Ritchey WCS V3 31.8 stem on a recent trip to a trail centre.

I looked at the Ritchey site to see if the stem is covered by warranty (no – too old) but saw a warning about a large amount of fake Ritchey components being around esp carbon bars through ebay.

It just happens that I have been running oversize WCS carbon rizers (2007 I think) for the past year that I got ‘cheap’ from ebay.

Is there any way that I can tell if they are fakes?
If they have stood up to the recent trail centre abuse that fractured the stem are they likely to be genuine (I have closely inspected them and no damage I can see from the outside)?
Should I just buy a new bar and stem combo to put my mind at rest (the last thing I want to do is be hammering a descent and for the bars to fail)?

    Thanks for thoughts

Contact Ritchey and ask them re. spotting fakes?
