  • Right then, here we go, name that dog…

This little fella is (very probably, pending final checks) soon coming to live with me and MrsIHN:

The current name he has is Alfie, but he’s a rescue and that is the name the rescue place have given him. We can, therefore, change it, and to be honest I’m not that mad on it.

Our previous dog was called Nelson and, in keeping with the theme of famous military leaders who gave pesky Johnny Foreigner a poke in the eye, I’ve suggested Wellington. Or, to keep the seafaring theme, Shackleton

MrsIHN, however, is not so keen on either of those. She has suggested Thomas (Hardy, geddit?)

So, dear friends of the Forum, fire away with your best ideas.

To add a bit of intrigue, he looks pretty much exactly like Nelson did, except Nelson was jet black.

If I had a dog I would call it N’boogie – so if it jumped up and folk I could shout – get down N’boogie!

Also, he’s Spanish, as was Nelson (the dog, not the sailorman)

    Horatio (Nelson) Or Jeff?

Or if you spend time on the beach – Shark – that’ll certainly spice things up when you call him lol

Alan or even Brooke. My grandad always said Field Marshall Alan Brooke was one of the most underrated officers during WW2.

My real reason for the suggestion is the little fella looks like an Alan to me. Mind you, is it safe to shout Alan in public these days without it being randomly repeated back at you?

Walter, as in Raleigh, he poked a few eyes in his time.

Then there’s the bonus of him having invented the bicycle… 🙂

    EDIT:
Putin’ another one in – Vlad would be good too, but that’s more impaling than poking.

We went through this when we rescued a dog who was Bella at the time. Not our favourite name, but we decided to stick with Bella as it was/is her name and it’s a reminder that we accept her unconditionally.
